Feis Schedule and Info

A "feis" (fesh) is Irish for "festival". While our focus is on ceili and solo irish step dancing, a traditional feis may include crafts, instrumental and Gaelic language competitions. We encourage competition as a central part of traditional irish dance: however, we DO NOT require all dancers to compete. We also hold our own in-house Class Feis annually, in order to introduce beginner dancers to how a feis is run and to prepare returning dancers for New England's busy local "feising" season, from March through June. A great resource for feis info is www.grayschool.com or www.feis411.com.

2011 Recommended Feiseanna

New Beginners: Holly Feis 12/4 and Christmas Feis 12/11 are both great feises. There is a gap from December to March for local feises. If a feis isn't listed, we don't recommend it! Print the syllabus, find the Beginner competitions, fill out the entry form as required and mail it in to the address listed on the form.

Adv Beginner, Novice, PW: 6-10 feises annually recommended. We recommend Holly Feis 12/4 & Christmas Feis 12/11. There is a gap in the schedule, no local feises Jan-March. We recommend Shamrock Feis in Hartford CT, only 2hrs drive.

PW & Prelim: Should attend 3-6 feises July thru Dec, 3-6 Jan-Jun. at least 1 should be out of state. We recommend Holly Feis 12/4, Irish Heritage Feis 12/11, Pender Keady Feis 1/14, Shamrock Feis

Open Champs: Should attend 6-8 feises July thru Dec, at least 2 of those should be out of state. 3-rounds or Prelim Set Comps are strongly encouraged. NE Autumn Feis REQUIRED (ceili teams too), we recommend NJ Championships 10/2, Torrington 10/8-9, Western CT 10/29 & Southern CT 11/6

Feis Charts:
Please download our Feis Chart to keep a record of all your placements. This will help you and your teachers determine when it is time for you to move up to the next level. Bring the chart to the studio and we will store it in our Feis Chart binder. Each time you compete, add your new placements to the studio copy.
